A key difference between medical insurance and vision plans is that medical insurance gives you ongoing benefits when a deductible has been met, and vision plans have a set amount you can spend once per year.
If you come in for an infection or other eye health problem, we will bill your medical insurance. When you come in for needs like new eye glasses or contact lenses, that visit is billed to your vision discount plan.
Medical plans will often cover your exam if you have any medical conditions like cataracts or diabetes.
We accept a wide range of medical insurances:
We Accept several other plans out of network, give us a call to see if we take your plan.
UMR has gone to a mixture of plans that are deductible based, and difficult to authorize prior to your exam. We are happy to extend our discounted cash prices to UMR members, but this year we won't be billing state insurance.
